Phil Foden has showered praised on Manchester City's defensive qualities after his goal secured a 1-0 Premier League victory over Brighton and Hove Albion.

The 20-year-old’s accurate strike after 44 minutes proved to be the matchwinner as the visitors played with grit and determination at the Etihad Stadium.

Graham Potter’s side put some late pressure on City, but with the help of John Stones and Ruben Dias in central defence, Pep Guardiola‘s team managed to keep another clean sheet, meaning the team has only conceded seven goals since the start of October.

Foden was quick to praise the impact of the pair.

“We’ve been playing really well in the last few games, we came in the game with a lot of confidence.

“I think they’ve only conceded one goal together [Stones and Dias] so it shows how good they’re playing.

“We’ve been solid at the back recently so if you want to win trophies you have to be solid at the back and scoring goals as well, it’s really good that we’re doing both at the moment.”

The Englishman also spoke about the togetherness of the squad, scoring goals and the upcoming fixtures.
