Phil Foden has showered praise on teammate Ilkay Gundogan after the German's brace propelled City to a 4-1 victory over Liverpool.

The 30-year-old netted City’s first and second goals at Anfield, taking him to seven Premier League goals in 2021.

Foden provided the assist for Gundogan‘s second, bursting beyond the Liverpool defence and accurately playing the ball across the box for him to tap into the empty net.

The 20-year-old is enjoying seeing his teammate in sparkling goalscoring form.

“He’s doing okay I suppose, isn’t he? Not doing too bad, scoring a couple of goals here and there!” he said jokingly.

Gundogan‘s just such a brilliant footballer and so intelligent. When you play with him he just makes you feel calm, he just slows the game down and sees it in a different way. He’s in the form of his life at the moment.

“You can just see how much he is enjoying it. He’s scoring more goals than he has in previous seasons so hopefully, he can keep that up because it’s important for us at the moment with the lives of Kev [De Bruyne] out.”

Foden also spoke about his superb goal, the title charge and the upcoming fixture against Swansea City in the FA Cup.
