Phil Foden has praised the influence of the Etihad Stadium crowd after 10-man City secured a 2-0 Premier League victory over Nottingham Forest.

Foden opened the scoring after just seven minutes, before Erling Haaland doubled our lead shortly after.

Shortly after the interval, Pep Guardiola‘s men were reduced to 10 men, after Rodrigo was sent off for violent conduct.

Man of the Match Foden was proud of the team, but also paid tribute to the home fans.

When asked if they made a difference, he said:

“Definitely. We needed them. Pep [Guardiola] saw that. We needed the fans today. 

“We were sat in at times and they were attacking because they had the extra man.

“It’s important that the fans get behind us in games like this because we need them.”

The Englishman also spoke about the team’s 100% winning start to the new league season, and gave an insight into his positioning after a flawless display.
