Before the game against Brighton, there was a period of applause for Francis Lee, who sadly died earlier this month.
Lee was the cover star of the matchday programme, with his famous celebration photo from the League Championship-winning 1967/68 campaign beautifully illustrated on the front of the latest edition.
And that image was also used on a tifo crowdsurfer that made its way down the East Stand to remember the legend while the applause rang out across the stadium.
Lee will never be forgotten here at Manchester City.
He made 330 appearances, scoring 148 goals, as well as winning one First Division title, one FA Cup, one League Cup, a European Cup Winners’ Cup and two Charity Shields during a glittering eight-year spell as a player – a legacy that ensures his position among the Club’s all-time greats.
