Blessed with an abundance of natural ability, Kinkladze arrived at the beginning of the 1995-96 campaign and became the star of a struggling team, mesmerising fans with his dribbling, vision and vast repertoire of skills.
He scored an iconic goal against Southampton, beating four players before executing an impudent chip and was unplayable as an unfancied City held Kevin Keegan’s entertainers at Newcastle United to a 3-3 draw in an unforgettable game at Maine Road.
However, his exceptional talent wasn’t enough to keep Alan Ball’s side in the Premier League, though his status as a fan favourite was reaffirmed when he elected to stay and help the Club return to the top-flight.
It wasn’t to be, however, and after two seasons in the second tier we were relegated again, which signalled the end of Kinkladze’s time at Maine Road.
He departed a much-loved City hero and in the latest City Studios production Kinkladze recalls that memorable period in his own words, whilst there are also interviews with former team-mates Michael Brown, Paul Dickov and Ian Brightwell as well as number of fans.
