Jack Grealish has praised the character and mentality of the City squad after fighting back from two goals down to earn a Premier League point at the London Stadium.

The hosts cruised into half-time with a two-goal lead after Jarrod Bowen’s brace, but Grealish quickly halved the deficit just after the interval, before Valdimir Coufal’s own goal put City level.

Riyad Mahrez had the golden chance to seal the victory but saw his penalty saved well by Lukasz Fabianski.

Grealish believes the point shows the mental strength of the City squad.

“It just shows the type of characters that we have in the dressing room,” he said.

“It’s brilliant in there. I think that showed in our second half performance.

“In there, we’d never ever look to blame anyone. Everyone is around him. Riyad [Mahrez] is that type of personality and character that will lift his head back up and be ready to go again next week.

“I just needed a bit of luck like that [to score]. I just haven’t had it this season. I’ve had no luck with shooting or deflections. It was nice to get that.

“I feel like I had a few chances. We dominated the game but it’s always difficult against a team that sits in like that.”

The Englishman also spoke about how Pep Guardiola spoke to the players at half-time, and also gave his thoughts on the Premier League finale against Aston Villa next Sunday.
