Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola says tiredness will not be an issue for his players when they take on Manchester United next Saturday.

Our trip to Old Trafford come three days after a final Champions League Group C match against Marseille on Wednesday night, while our rivals take on RB Leipzig the day before.

But asked whether City hold an advantage having already secured European progression, while the Reds need a result in midweek, Guardiola dismissed the suggestion.

“Sometimes we play three days without recovery, sometimes four,” he reflected after our 2-0 win over Fulham on Saturday.

“It’s a derby, we will be focused, committed and for these games the players are not tired.

“It’s the opposite.”

Our impressive recent defensive record continued apace against Fulham, with victory marking a fourth consecutive clean sheet in all competitions.

And while Guardiola believes there is still room for improvement, he is delighted with how our rearguard has been taking shape.

He said: “(In the) last few games we have been so solid.

“If the other team does good things, fine… teams will try and punish us.

“We are in a good moment right now, four games, four clean sheets, a lot of chances created, but we can be better.”
