Ilkay Gundogan expressed his disappointment after a satisfactory City performance yielded no reward, as we fell to a 2-0 Champions League defeat at Juventus.

The best chance of the opening period fell to Erling Haaland, but his clever dinked attempt was expertly saved by Juventus goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio.

Pep Guardiola‘s men were punished at the other end after the interval, with Dusan Vlaovic and Weston McKennie finding the net to secure the points for Thiago Motta’s side.

Gundogan himself came close to getting a goal back, only to find Di Gregorio at his best again to palm the ball away.

The midfielder believes that the team’s impressive overall performance was not reflected in the scoreline, making the defeat a bitter pill to swallow.

“It seems like at the moment we are conceding defensively. By the slightest of chances, we concede. It’s obviously tough to take,” he said.

“And then we’re chasing the game again, a goal behind, when you know you that you could have led by one goal and could have scored earlier in the goal, obviously it’s not so easy.

“We still tried to do our best and I feel like in the second half we actually played really good.

“But we conceded two goals. So, then it’s unfortunate that nothing is worth it.”
