Josko Gvardiol has praised City's display in the goalless UEFA Champions League draw with Inter Milan at the Etihad Stadium.

It proved to be a cagey affair under the floodlights as Pep Guardiola‘s men began the competition’s new league phase with a point.

However, it could have been all three, but Ilkay Gundogan‘s two late chances both failed to find the net, the first header falling straight into Yann Sommer’s arms, and the second sailing over the crossbar.

Gvardiol, who also stung the palms of Sommer in the second half with a powerful drive from distance, believes the performance was good enough despite only coming away with a point.

“We did a great job. We secured a clean sheet, we couldn’t score goals but it just wasn’t our day. We need to move on,” he said.

“There are still like seven games left right? The competition is quite long. This is just the first game, so we will see.

“If we’re going to perform the way we performed today, I think we shouldn’t be worried about anything.”
