Erling Haaland says he's proud of what City achieved last season, but that attentions are now fully turned to the new campaign.

The Norwegian won the Premier League Golden Boot for a second successive year as City were once again crowned champions in 2023/24.

Pep Guardiola‘s men edged out Arsenal on the final day of the season by a single point, breaking new ground as the first side in men’s English football history to win four top flight title in a row.

But Haaland, who netted in our first pre-season fixture - an entertaining 4-3 defeat against Scottish side Celtic - is now looking to start the new season strongly, despite our past achievements being a huge source of pride.

Whether the race for the title will go down to the wire as it did in 2023/24 though remains to be seen, and the Norwegian was quick to point out the importance of a short term focus.

HOW TO WATCH CITY V AC MILAN ON TV

“I’m really proud of what we did. Last year was one point - so they were really close,” he told the press ahead of City’s clash with AC Milan.

“But how it will be this season, I don’t know. I don’t think of it to be honest.

“I try to live in the moment. I don’t think about what will happen in May, I don’t think that’s a good thing for your brain to think of.”

The striker also spoke about his personal aspirations ahead of the new season and touched on how it felt to be captain against Celtic.
