Erling Haaland was overjoyed after City began our Premier League title defence with a 3-0 victory over Burnley at Turf Moor.

The striker struck a first-half double to put us in command at the interval, before Rodrigo secured the three points by smashing into the net with 15 minutes left to play.

Our number nine spoke about the importance of making a fast start to the league season and was delighted that Pep Guardiola‘s men came away with maximum points from Lancashire.

“It was important to start like this,” he said.

“A tricky fixture, away, against a newly promoted team and everything, so it was fantastic to start with three points.

“I don’t think too much about this [early goals]. The main thing is to play good as a team and to get the three points.

“That’s exactly what we did throughout the whole game. It was a good start.

“We have to try to still play the football we did last year. And to keep on building what we did last year because it was something truly special what we achieved.

“We are Treble winners so people want to beat us even more. We are used to it and we will do our best to defend everything we can.”

The Norwegian also spoke about his excitement to play alongside new signing Josko Gvardiol, who made his first appearance for City in the latter stages of the victory.
