Erling Haaland was overjoyed after our narrow Premier League victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

The striker struck the winner with 12 minutes to play, calmly stroking in from the penalty spot after Ilkay Gundogan was fouled by Michael Olise.

The hosts defended rigidly for a majority of the encounter under the floodlights, but Haaland was delighted with City’s persistence to claim the three points.

“It’s a fantastic win, a difficult place to come, and I’m really happy,” he said.

“It’s not easy, every single game in the Premier League is difficult. We have to try and play our game and win football games in the end.

“I should have scored [in the first-half], but what can I do, we won in the end and I’m really happy.

“It’s margins every single game. We get the penalty, we score, we win. I was confident today.

“It’s been a quite decent season so far, we have to keep going.”
