City’s Champions League triumph in Istanbul came 55 years after we first went to the Turkish city for a European clash.

Pep Guardiola‘s team lifted the trophy to complete a historic Treble following a 1-0 victory over Italian giants Inter at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium in June.

However, it was not the first time that City made our way to the metropolis that straddles Europe and Asia.

After winning the First Division title in 1967/68, we entered the European Cup for the first time - where we were drawn against Fenerbahce.

The budding filmmaker, who was born on this day in 1938, captured much of the team’s journey and now that footage is available for City fans to enjoy, courtesy of North West Film Archive at Manchester Metropolitan University.
