James McAtee believes there is much more to come in terms of his development at Manchester City in the wake of signing his new contract extension.

The 19-year-old attacking midfielder put pen to paper on a new three-year deal today that will extend his stay at the Club through to 2026.

One of the most highly regarded players to have emerged from our Academy over the past few years, McAtee made his senior City debut in September of last year in our 6-1 Carabao Cup win at home to Wycombe.

He subsequently made his Premier League bow in November, coming on as a substitute in our 3-0 win over Everton and also came on off the bench in last month’s FA Cup 4-1 third round win at Swindon.

However, the teenager believes that with his professional and physical development still ongoing, he will only continue to progress in terms of his growth and potential here at City.

“There is so much more to come,” McAtee told mancity.com.

“When I made my Premier League debut, I went home that night and I couldn’t sleep. I was so happy!

“When I first joined in training with the first team the tempo was so fast, but then I got used to it and it has made me such a better player.

“(But) There is a lot more to come and I have still got a lot to improve on. I can make my game better in many ways.”
