On Friday, 3 February, Jamie arrived in Antigua after his 3,000-mile solo row across the Atlantic Ocean.
Jamie has spent up to two months on his own rowing the world’s toughest ocean as part of the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Rowing Challenge.
Rowing up to 16 hours a day, navigating storms, sharks and loneliness, Jamie had a huge challenge on his hands.

Throughout 2022, Jamie set himself two extreme challenges as part of a campaign all in aid of raising money for City in the Community and the Cancer Fund for Children in his native Ireland.

Jamie has previously run six ultra-marathons in six days across the Sahara Desert during the Marathon Des Sables, in March 2022, as part of the first challenge of his campaign.
Commenting on completing his challenge Jamie said: “It has been an absolute emotional rollercoaster and honestly one of the most challenging experiences of my life.
“It was a lot harder than I ever expected. I think the last week or so was definitely the toughest moment.
“I had built up that I knew I was finishing the challenge soon, I was four days away from land, everything is doing great and then I got the news that I was in for two days of really bad weather.
“But thinking about that finishing line and crossing it and seeing my family really helped me get through the tough days.
“The bit that also gets you though the tough times is seeing you are actually making a difference and you’re actually impacting and helping people. I was getting a donation update each day of how much I had raised and that really helped me get through the tough times.”
Jamie has worked with Manchester City’s Academy teams for more than four years.
Though having coached some of the very best junior age players at City, it was his experience teaching children in rural India where his ambition to champion opportunities for disadvantaged children first took root, inspiring Jamie’s incredible next steps and fundraising efforts.
City in the Community’s portion will support its mental health programme, City Thrive, which supports people in Manchester under the age of 25, in partnership with the NHS.
