Team GB Olympic Rower Joshua Bugajski visited Manchester City Academy Coach Jamie Carr at the City Football Academy recently to give him some advice before he embarks on the challenge of a lifetime.

Joshua spent time with Jamie learning all about his Nothing Ventured Campaign, which will see Jamie rows 3,000 nautical miles solo to Antigua from the Canary Islands as part of his Nothing Ventured Campaign, as well as offering some rowing tips and tricks.

Commenting on the challenge, and specifically maintaining enough energy through calories, Joshua said: “When we’re on big training camps, training three or four times a day we’re consuming 7,000/8,000 calories.

“You’re going to be in the region of 10,000 calories per day. Just that on its own is an extra job.”

Jamie is raising money for the Clubs Charity, City in the Community (CITC), and Cancer Fund for Children in his native Ireland.

Here in Manchester, the funds will support CITC’s ‘City Thrive’ programme, which aims to develop young people’s understanding of mental health.

Jamie has previously run six ultra-marathons in six days across the Sahara Desert during the Marathon Des Sables as part of the first challenge of his 2022 campaign.

CITC is celebrating the countdown to Jamie Carr’s second challenge of his Nothing Ventured Campaign with a matchday takeover at our Premier League home game with Brentford on Saturday 12 November.

Head over to CITC’s Instagram to follow action from the day and participate in some fun activities all related to Jamie’s challenge.
