Gabriel Jesus netted the winner as City defeated Sheffield United 1-0 in the Premier League, but the striker reserved particular praise for our defence.

City claimed another clean sheet against the Blades and have only conceded 13 times in the league this season - the best record of all the teams in the top-flight.

Jesus found the net in the ninth minute and Pep Guardiola‘s men remained resolute for the remainder of the encounter. Jesus knows the importance of keeping the opposing team out.

“It’s so important [clean sheets]. Our defenders are confident. Aymeric [Laporte] just came back and did so well today. John [Stones] has come back with his good form and Ruben [Dias] has come to help us.

“I think Ederson can explain better to you than me because sometimes he has nothing to save! When the ball does come to him, he saves it.

“For us [attackers] it is so good, we are confident and we just have to score.”

The Brazilian also spoke about his delight at scoring the winning goal, the squad rotation by the manager and how hard it was to play against the rigid Sheffield United defence.
