Go behind the scenes of the creation of the mosaics to honour departing heroes John Stones and Bernardo Silva.

In recognition of their trophy-laden spells at the Club, Stones and Silva were presented with a mosaic by Chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak – designed and created by local artist and City fan Mark Kennedy.

Bernardo’s mosaic, situated by the men’s first team training pitches, was inspired by his second goal in the 4-0 victory over Real Madrid in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-final, a pivotal moment that helped secure the Club’s place in the Istanbul final, where City would go on to lift the trophy.

The mosaic for Stones depicts his iconic goal-line clearance in the 2-1 win against Liverpool during the 2018/19 campaign, with the bespoke piece installed around the City Football Academy training pitches as a lasting tribute to his defining contribution.

Stones and Silva join former players including Vincent Kompany, Sergio Aguero and David Silva on a list of those recognised with a mosaic, crafted with love by Kennedy.

Check out how they were created, the thought process behind the design with Kennedy imagining the players as musical instruments as well as the moment he had to start the Bernardo mosaic from scratch.
