John Stones says he wants to bring the Premier League trophy back to Manchester.

City currently sit top of the table, three points clear of second-placed Manchester United, after a run of nine league wins on the bounce.

But Sunday sees us take on our biggest challenge of the season so far: A game against current champions Liverpool at Anfield.

Stones is excited about the game - and says given the high standards City have set in recent years, trophies are a must come the end of the season.

“Silverware has to be our target,” he said.

“It’s such a high bar we’ve set because of previous seasons. We won everything one season bar the Champions League.

“We want the Premier League back in Manchester.

“These things we’ve done in the past and replicated, we have to get back to that bar we’ve set so high.

“Do it for the fans who can’t be there to watch us – they are the things in our mind, definitely.

“It’s definitely a big game – we all know that as players and fans of football. We’ve had some big games which maybe on paper don’t look like big games.

“Everyone knows the quality of Liverpool they still have the quality and are champions. We know what we’re in for, we will be well prepared for the game and everyone will wear their heart on their sleeve, I’m sure.

“When attackers have got pace and movement and strength, it does cause problems and that’s when all our hard work and training comes into play – and our own attributes.

“We’re there to defend against them and we thrive off that. It’s what we are there to do. I look forward to these games, testing yourself against top players.

“It’ll be an exciting open, especially for us going into to it. The importance of it brings added pressure - not too much – but the pressure of making another step forward. Definitely excited!”
