The centre-half says the frustration of three consecutive last eight defeats to Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Lyon has fuelled City’s march to the last four of the competition and can give us an extra push ahead of our semi-final second leg at the Etihad Stadium.
The Spurs defeat, in particular, was difficult to swallow as City crashed out on away goals on a dramatic night in which Raheem Sterling had a last-minute winner ruled out for offside by VAR.
But, with a 2-1 lead from the first leg, Pep Guardiola’s side are on the brink of reaching the Club’s first Champions League final and Stones says such memories can spur the players on against PSG.
“I do think with all those things that have happened has made us a stronger team,” he said at his pre-match press conference.
“The disappointment of getting knocked out in harsh circumstances, it’s hard to take and it’s something we’ve had to use season this season as fuel to go and motivate us, push forward and make that next step from the previous season - and try and get our goal which is to win the Champions League.
“This season we have a great opportunity to get to the final. We need to use those emotions of disappointment or whatever it may be to motivate us to do better.”
