The pair have been playing alongside each other at centre half for the past six weeks during which time Pep Guardiola’s side have gone unbeaten.
For Gvardiol it’s meant resuming his traditional position with the 23-year-old Croatian having spent much of his initial time since joining City in 2023 operating at left-back, also in hugely impressive fashion.
But linking up with Portuguese star Dias has seen the pair gel seamlessly and help add an extra layer of steel to the Blues’ back-line
“It wasn’t hard to get back to my natural position,” Gvardiol says.
“I have been playing for a long time, and I think it’s just inside of me and kind of natural
“The relationship between me and Ruben I think its is really good as you can see by the way we work on the pitch and the way we help each other.
“He is the experienced one and like the leader not just to me but to everyone in the team and having him next to me makes our job a lot easier.
For his part, Dias says he is not surprised at how well the duo’s understanding and partnership has worked.

“I believe everyone knows how good he can be and how good he is already,” Dias asserted.
“And when you have this level of quality and are able to mix it with good communication, responsibility and ambition things can work out.”
The pair also talk about the end of season run in and our quest to seal Champions League qualification for next season as well as the incentive of seeking to win a second FA Cup in three seasons.
And they also touch upon their favourite City moments so far and reveal who their childhood footballing inspirations were when they were growing up.
