Last week’s goalless draw away at Borussia Dortmund assured City of top spot in the group.
But asked at Tuesday’s pre-match press conference whether that would afford an opportunity to some players who have not as much game time recently – including youngster Cole Palmer – the City boss said he would wait and see before deciding on his final line-up.
“I have to see the training session and see the players,” Guardiola revealed.
“They played Brighton, then in Germany and then travelled to Leicester on Saturday.
“The players who haven’t played regularly will play, for sure. But let me see the training sessions today and tomorrow and we will see then.
“The players can see how good they are. And obviously the prestige of the competition. We want to use as many players as possible, that will be better [later in the season].”
In terms of Palmer specifically, Guardiola revealed the attacking midfielder was fully fit again after missing Saturday’s win at Leicester and had resumed training and said he had nothing to prove to him in terms of his attributes.
“He doesn’t have to show me anything special. If he plays - and as I said I don’t know yet, I will decide after training who will start - but he has to be himself,” Guardiola added.
“If he is here, it’s because he has the attributes to be himself. Not because he has to prove anything to me.”
