Kevin De Bruyne believes City showed their determination and experience to dig deep and secure a hard-fought 1-0 Premier League victory over Wolves.

Our captain scored the only goal of the game at the Etihad Stadium, drilling in from Jeremy Doku’s cutback as half-time approached.

The visitors struck the woodwork twice and had an effort cleared off the line, but City remained resolute to make it nine matches unbeaten across all competitions and move up to third in the table.

It was a tough assignment against a side who’d won their last six in the Premier League, but De Bruyne felt City did enough on the night.

“I think [it was] a pretty hard game today,” he reflected.

MATCH REPORT: CITY 1-0 WOLVES

“Even in the season that we won these kind of tough games, you just need to find a way to win. I think we did that.

“It’s pretty important. Now we can enjoy the weekend and see what the other teams are doing.

“Obviously it’s good if you put pressure on the rest. I think also we know that other teams have to play each other a little bit.

“So we can just relax for the weekend and get ready for next week. We found a way in the end.”

The Belgian also reserved praise for Wolves and spoke about how he feels after becoming the second player after Lionel Messi to register 250 goal involvements under the stewardship of Pep Guardiola.
