Kevin De Bruyne is relishing every match as City chase Champions League and Premier League glory.

Speaking after collecting the Etihad Player of the Month award for March, De Bruyne was filled with excitement for our Champions League semi-final with Real Madrid.

The Belgian playmaker has also won the award for April, his four goals and four assists edging out Gabriel Jesus.

The latest edition of the City Magazine is out now!

While City are regularly involved in high profile matches, few are bigger than a trip to the Santiago Bernabeu to face the Spanish champions for a place in the Champions League final.

De Bruyne can’t wait to take to the pitch.

“I always wanted to play on the big stage,” he said.

“I wanted to be the best player I could be and if you wanted to do that, you have to perform in these big games. A semi-final against Real Madrid is no different and I enjoy it a lot.

With seven strikes in 10 appearances since the start of March, our midfielder is in a rich vein of form in front of goal.

He ascribes that to the way Pep Guardiola sets up his team.

He said: “It depends who you’re playing with. We play less with a striker so I’ve got more opportunities myself to score and maybe less opportunities to pass to others.

“Sometimes you have periods in your career when the ball just goes in easily and other periods it’s a little bit harder, so it’s probably just a factor of everything.”

Away from the Champions League, City’s battle with Liverpool for the Premier League title is entering its final stages.

With four games remaining, the sides are separated by just one point while nearest challengers Chelsea are a further 16 points behind second placed Liverpool.

“I thought that the other teams would be closer,” said De Bruyne.

“Before the new year I think most of them were pretty much gone except Liverpool but you don’t really know what’s going to happen.

“Up until now we have been great, it’s still going to be hard fighting Liverpool but we will try to win.”

De Bruyne also talks us through his favourite moments on the pitch in March, including his incredible Manchester derby performance.
