Kevin De Bruyne said Saturday’s 1-0 win over Chelsea gave extra meaning to his latest spectacular Etihad strike.

Not for the first time in his illustrious City career, De Bruyne – who was captain for the day - proved the difference, firing home a spectacular 70th minute shot to clinch victory over second-placed Chelsea.

Remarkably, the 1-0 triumph stretched City’s winning run in the Premier League to 12 matches – and also extended our lead at the top of the table to 13 points ahead of Liverpool’s game with Brentford tomorrow.

For his part, De Bruyne said the victory helped round off a hugely satisfying day with his strike ultimately proving the difference.

“It’s important but in the end obviously the result is what makes it a good feeling,” De Bruyne reflected on his goal

“If we don’t win it (the goal) doesn’t matter.

“We were very patient. We know defensively they are very solid and that you are not going to create many chances, but one goal was enough.

“Nice goal, nice team performance - now let’s keep it going!”
