Not content with scoring a brace in our 5-0 victory over Norwich, De Bruyne also weighed in with another assist to take his tally for the season to 20.
That was enough to not only earn him the Premier League playmaker of the season award but also equal Thierry Henry’s all-time top flight assist record which had stood for 17 years.
Reflecting on the achievements, De Bruyne said he was immensely proud.
But the Belgian also insisted the credit should be equally shared with his teammates thanks to their finishing prowess in front of goal.
“It’s obviously a nice achievement but I only do half the job,” De Bruyne reflected.
“I’m very grateful to my teammates for the way they finish off the chances. Without them I wouldn’t have got that many assists.”
