In Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, young leaders are helping to solve the local urban flooding issue.

The Malaysian capital city receives an average of 2,500 mm of rain per year.

Mindy and the team of young leaders in Kuala Lumpur are using the power of football to educate young people on how they can help to prevent the impact of flash floods.

Mindy said: “One of the most challenging water issues that we are facing here in Kuala Lumpur is urban flooding. Our students are lacking awareness of the negative impact littering could have on the city we are living in.

This year, we have organised a two-day football league tournament, and for the first time ever we have a water education exhibition at the field where players get to learn about water issues and make a pledge to solve them.”

This Cityzens Giving project is delivered in partnership with Dignity for Children Foundation.
