Rico Lewis has reiterated City's determination and desire to win the FA Cup, after progressing into the final of the competition for a third successive time thanks to a 2-0 victory over Nottingham Forest.

The 20-year-old put us ahead after just two minutes at Wembley Stadium, controlling the ball and arrowing into the bottom corner from 18 yards.

Josko Gvardiol powerfully headed us two goals ahead shortly after half-time, before Forest struck the woodwork on three separate occasions.

However, we remained resolute to progress into the showpiece final on 17 May, where we will lock horns with Crystal Palace.

When asked if winning the FA Cup was important for the team in his post-match interview with City TV, Lewis said:

“Yeah definitely. Everyone in there likes winning trophies. Nobody in there doesn’t want to win an FA Cup or whatever competition we’re in.

“I think no matter what the competition, we always want to win it. So yeah, it’s really important for us, especially this season.

“Obviously I’ve scored a few goals against Crystal Palace as well! So we’ll have to see when that comes.

“At the end of the day it’s another team and it’s a final and you never know what you’re going to get in a final.

“It’s a one-off game and we’ve just got to be concentrated on our game plan and everyone believe in each other.”

The Academy graduate also spoke about how it felt to score such a crucial goal, and looked ahead to our next Premier League assignment against Wolves.
