Guardiola is a huge admirer of the former Crystal Palace captain, who is eligible to face Liverpool in Sunday’s 16:30 (UK) clash at Anfield after being cup-tied against Newcastle on Wednesday.
The boss believes the classy central defender has all the attributes to star for the Blues over the next decade.

“You can smell it, he’s a great, great, great signing for City for the next five, six, seven, eight years,” said the boss in his pre-match press conference.
“He’s top, top. It’s not just the skill. The mentality, professionalism, how he lives and many things to be a good central defender. That’s apart from the skills he has.”
