Luke Mbete says he is hungry to keep learning and developing in the wake of signing his contract with Manchester City.

The 18-year-old central defender put pen to paper on a new three-year deal today that will extend his stay at the Club through to 2027.

One of the most highly regarded players to have emerged from our Academy over the past few years, Mbete made his senior City debut in September of last year in our 6-1 Carabao Cup win at home to Wycombe.

He subsequently made his FA Cup and Champions League bows in a season to remember with Mbete also a key part of our Elite Development Squad side that retained the Premier League 2 title.

However, the teenager believes that with his professional development still ongoing, he will only continue to progress in terms of his growth and potential here at City.

“I feel like I have improved a lot and learnt a lot of key traits, not just on the pitch, but off the pitch as well and I am willing to learn more,” Mbete told mancity.com.

“I feel like there is so much more to come and I feel like I have got a lot more to show and prove as well. There is a lot to learn as well from the players and the coaches. I am ready for the challenges that will be coming my way.

“Thanks to the manager and the players for helping me as much as possible.

“I am very grateful that the club has put their faith and trust in me. I hope in the years to come I can repay it.”
