Luke Mbete says City will aim to build on a fine opening pre-season outing when we tackle Bayern Munich this weekend in the second match of US summer tour.

The Premier League champions kicked off our pre-season preparations in the early hours of Thursday with an impressive 2-1 win over Club America in Houston, Texas.

Teenage central defender Mbete was handed a starting berth and produced an assured display in front of 60,000 fans at the NRG Stadium.

But reflecting both on the win and looking ahead to the clash with Bayern in Green Bay on Saturday night, Mbete said this was merely the start for Pep Guardiola’s squad.

“I think we did a very good job (against Club America) considering it was our first game,” said Mbete.

“There’s a long way to go but we are just going to keep on improving and hopefully in the next game we can be better than today.

“I’m looking forward to the Bayern game. We will try to prepare as best as possible and I’m just excited to see what this season has for all of us.”
