Riyad Mahrez’s sumptuous half-volley against Manchester United has been named Nissan Goal of the Month for March.

The Algerian rounded off the scoring in spectacular fashion, with his strike coming out on top in a fan vote.

Stealing in unmarked on the edge of the United box, Mahrez met a Kevin De Bruyne corner with a vicious effort on goal which found the bottom corner of David De Gea’s net.

It was the perfect way to cap off a truly memorable afternoon at the Etihad Stadium as Pep Guardiola’s men ran out 4-1 winners against our cross-city rivals.

While Mahrez has been voted Etihad Player of the Month on two occasions already this season, this is the first time he has claimed the Goal of the Month gong in 2021/22.

The Algerian saw off the sizeable challenge of Jack Grealish, Kevin De Bruyne, Caroline Weir and Phil Foden to earn his latest individual award.

Thank you to everyone who voted!
