Today is a very special day.

It’s 100 years since the first game at our legendary former home, Maine Road.

That 1923 afternoon, we defeated Sheffield United 2-1 in front of 58,159 fans.

It went on to be our sanctuary for over 80 years before we moved to the City of Manchester Stadium, now the Etihad.

In those times, we cheered, we laughed, we even cried.

It gave us heroes like Mike Summerbee, Colin Bell, Francis Lee, Bert Trautmann, David White, Georgi Kinkladze and Shaun Goater to name just a few.

NEW BOOK | 100 YEARS: FROM MAINE ROAD TO THE ETIHAD

It was the venue for amazing games – how about the Ballet on Ice, the Maine Road Massacre, the Return of the King?

It meant everything.
