Pep Guardiola says Kevin De Bruyne is finding the rhythm he needs to be at his very best.

The Belgian playmaker’s stop-start season – due to injury and illness - has meant he has struggled to hit top form.

But he was at his masterful best against Leeds United, scoring twice in a 7-0 victory at the Etihad.

“Kevin trained the last two days,” said the boss. “He had a lack of rhythm against Wolves, but that is normal.

“It is not easy to come back from the bench. He trained really well the last two days. This game was more open and in transitions,

“Kevin is the best (in games like this). Sometimes he struggles when the team sets up deep like Wolves did, but we are so pleased.

“We need him. We have been together for six seasons. We know each other quite well.

“What he has done for me is amazing. We need him. Step by step he will come back.

“He struggled at the start of the season, he lost the rhythm because of Covid and hopefully now he can continue this rhythm because we need him.”
