Ilkay Gundogan scored a second half brace, with Riyad Mahrez and young Sam Edozie both on target for the third consecutive game, either side of Luke Garbutt’s penalty.
Edozie opened the scoring in the third minute, lifting the ball over Stuart Moore from six-yards after Gundogan’s blocked shot dropped invitingly for him, but Garbutt thundered a spot-kick into the top corner to equalise after Ruben Dias fouled Shayne Lavery.
Mahrez arrowed an angled drive into the bottom corner to restore City’s lead three minutes after the break, before Gundogan scored the pick of the goals, arriving unmarked in the area to slide a first-time finish under the goalkeeper from the Algerian’s quick free-kick.
The German midfielder was in the right place again to complete the scoring, getting the wrong side of the last defender and converting a side foot finish from close range after a good ball from Joao Cancelo.
