This summer marks the tenth edition of the Manchester City Cup in San Diego, California.

A premier youth soccer tournament that began in 2015, the competition is a collaboration between Manchester City and Surf Sports.

Each year, the Manchester City Cup draws teams from across the U.S., Canada, Mexico and further afield, competing across age groups from Under-8 to Under-19.

The tournament is scheduled for Labor Day weekend and the preceding weekend - always one of the most highly anticipated soccer events of the year, when families, coaches, and players come together sharing in the excitement and energy of the game.

In 2024, 500 teams and 7,500 players took part in front of 25,000 attendees.

This year, marks the first time the tournament will span two weekends featuring dedicated Boys’ and Girls’ event days.

Held at Surf Sports Park in Del Mar, CA, the 2025 edition will take in a Girls’ weekend (23–24 August) and a Boys’ weekend (30 August – 1 September).

Surf Sports continues with a format that has proved successful in balancing high-level competition and a showcase for some of North America’s top young talent.

The list of past participants includes players who’ve gone on to make their names in the professional game.

Phil Foden, Rico Lewis, James McAtee, Cole Palmer and Nico O’Reilly are just five of many to have taken early steps in their young careers in the San Diego sunshine at previous editions of the tournament.

Rico Lewis and Nico O'Reilly, now part of the Man City first team, featured for the Academy at the 2018 Man City Cup.

The team will be placed in the “Best of the Best” international super group bracket featuring some of the most competitive teams to watch.

Adding to the excitement in 2025, are the new facility upgrades at Surf Sports Park now featuring high quality Bermuda grass - used in top stadiums worldwide - across nearly 20 fields, providing young players a world-class environment to showcase their skills.
