In the second episode of our series ‘Gym Routine’, Ruben Dias welcomes you into the City gym to learn about the exercises best suited to a central defender.

Joined by City’s head of strength and conditioning Simon Bitcon, the duo highlight the importance of power and lateral strength that is developed with the use of assisted and unassisted exercises.

Dias has been an instrumental figure in Pep Guardiola’s defensive line, totalling 41 appearances this season across all competitions.

“For me to be in the gym essentially and to have these workouts outside the pitch is essentially about a search for balance,” said Dias.
