In a new series, we bring you into City’s gym to learn about the routines players have that help push them to new levels of fitness and on-the-pitch performances.

And to kick us off, Stefan Ortega Moreno is joined by City’s head of strength and conditioning Simon Bitcon to highlight the importance of explosive training for goal keepers.

In this episode, Ortega Moreno completes five exercises – two lower body, two upper body and one mobility exercise – that focus on improving strength, flexibility, mobility and explosive moments.

The German goalkeeper has featured in all of City’s domestic cup matches. In this campaign’s FA Cup journey to the semi-finals, where we face Sheffield United, Ortega Moreno has kept a clean sheet in all four matches.

“I see the difference from my body when I arrived in the summer until now. I improved a lot with the help of the coaches here,” he said.
