We started our defence of the FA Cup with the visit of the Championship side to the Etihad in the third round.
After winning our final four matches of 2023 – two on the way to winning the FIFA Club World Cup, and two in the Premier League after our return, City made an impressive start to the New Year.
The Terriers frustrated Pep Guardiola’s side for the opening 30 minutes but goals from Phil Foden and Julian Alvarez gave us a two-goal advantage at half-time.
And the second half got even better as we welcomed back Kevin De Bruyne onto the pitch for the first time since August along with fellow Belgian Jeremy Doku.

We wrapped up the win with a Ben Jackson own goal, a second from Foden and strike from Doku assisted by De Bruyne.
The game also saw five Academy players feature with Foden, Rico Lewis, Oscar Bobb, Micah Hamilton and debutant Jacob Wright get minutes.
