Raheem Sterling says Eric Garcia’s intelligence makes him a special talent after the defender thwarted Liverpool’s potent front line in City’s 4-0 defeat of the new Premier League champions.

Sterling netted a brace in a superb display against his former Club, but he was equally impressed by 19-year-old Garcia’s showing at the other end of the pitch.

Making only his eighth Premier League appearance, the young Spaniard expertly kept Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah at bay, with a performance that left his team-mate proud.

“Eric’s a fantastic talent,” said Sterling.

“I really like him. He’s composed on the ball. He’s not the tallest of players, but he gives everything and fights.

“He read the games really well. I’m really happy for him and really proud to see him doing really well.”

Sterling also shared his thoughts on City’s efforts against the Reds, fitness and ending the season on a high.
