Building on the amazing work already done across Africa, Midea and Manchester City have brought their shared mission to Luanda, Angola.
The initiative focuses on bringing young people together through football and community activities, giving them a safe and positive space to learn, play, and connect. By combining football, guidance, and teamwork, the project encourages confidence, creativity, and a strong sense of community. Helping young people build safer, more inclusive environments both on and off the pitch.
In Luanda, the programme is creating lasting impact by empowering local youth with the tools and support they need to thrive. Through structured training sessions, mentorship, and team activities, the Young Leaders are learning valuable life skills such as leadership, identity, and resilience.
More than just a football initiative, the project strengthens community bonds and inspires the next generation to take pride in shaping safer, brighter futures for themselves and their community through training led by City in the Community coaches.
The coaches delivered inspiring training sessions designed to go beyond football. Through engaging workshops and on-pitch activities, the coaches focused on developing essential life skills such as leadership, communication, and teamwork, while encouraging young people to become positive role models within their communities. By sharing their expertise and values, the coaches helped Young Leaders to understand the power they have to create positive change both on and off the pitch.
Midea further demonstrated its commitment to the community through generous product donations that will help support the local community and create safer, more welcoming spaces for young people.
By providing essential appliances, Midea is helping to improve everyday environments where children and families come together, ensuring these spaces are functional, comfortable, and sustainable. These contributions are strengthening the community hubs and shows Midea’s dedication to making a meaningful difference in the lives of young people in Luanda.
