Pep Guardiola was full of praise for Rodrigo’s impressive display in our 4-0 win at Watford and asserted that the Spanish midfielder was going to be a key long-term asset for City.

The 24-year-old, who joined City from Atletico Madrid last summer, was a dominant figure in central midfield as City got back in the groove with Raheem Sterling (2), Phil Foden and Aymeric Laporte all on target.

And the City manager said it was a further example of the ability Rodrigo possesses as well as his desire to learn - qualities which will only help the Club going forward

“I think Rodri came from an important club in Spain in Atletico Madrid,” Guardiola declared.

“It’s not easy to adapt so quick to the Premier League like he has done.

“He is a guy who is going to help us a lot - especially with his mentality. He is open minded to learn.”
