City raced into an early lead as Rodrigo headed home Riyad Mahrez‘s corner to set the tone for the minutes that followed.

Villa clung on as the Blues dominated proceedings, seeing a goal disallowed and a VAR decision denying a penalty before adding two more goals just before the break.

Ilkay Gundogan turned home Erling Haaland‘s low cross to double the advantage and Riyad Mahrez tucked home a penalty on the stroke of half-time to make it 3-0.

Villa pulled one back in the second-half, but City comfortably saw out the time that remained.
