Pep Guardiola was delighted with Julian Alvarez during the 5-0 win over FC Copenhagen.

The Argentine forward grabbed his fourth goal for City, tapping home on 76 minutes after earlier striking the woodwork.

The 22-year-old has had to be patient for opportunities following Erling Haaland‘s prolific start to the season - but the boss was happy with Alvarez’s contribution as the Blues maintained a 100% record in the Champions League group stage.

“We were able to make good movements,” said Pep

“We need players in the box and with Erling and Julian we have that weapon.

“For the people outside, that is important.

“The space in the middle is so minimal, we try to make the movements there.

“All of us were very happy with the goal Julian scored and the way he played.

“He is a little bit behind Erling, but it is normal.

“Erling is special. We rely on him a lot and against the team that defends so tight and he helps us a lot.”
