It proved a goal laden weekend for City with our men’s, women’s and Elite Development Squad sides all recording impressive and emphatic victories, plundering an astonishing 20 goals in the process.

Returning to Premier League 2 action for their first game of 2026, our Elite Development Squad set the ball rolling by powering to a quite stunning 8-1 victory over Burnley at the Joie Stadium on Friday night.

Both Reigan Heskey and Justin Oboavwoduo recorded first half braces, with Ashton Muir also on target to send Ben Wilkinson’s side in 5-1 ahead at the break.

Mahamadou Sangare and Matty Warhurst struck on 67 and 70 minutes to further extend the young Blues’ advantage before an injury time finish from Christian Dunbar-McDonald set the seal on a night to remember.

It extended our EDS’s unbeaten run to six games in all competitions and moved the young Blues up to seventh place in the PL2 table.

Pep Guardiola’s men’s team then took centre stage on Saturday as City opened our FA Cup campaign in record-breaking fashion.

On an incredible afternoon, the Blues put League One Exeter City to the sword in emphatic fashion, recording a 10-1 third round win.

It was a result that equalled our biggest-ever margin of victory on an afternoon that saw Antoine Semenyo and Ryan McAidoo both grab debut goals with Rico Lewis (2), Max Alleyne, Rodri, Tijjani Reijnders, Nico O’Reilly and two own goals sealing a day to remember.

Last but by no means least, the goals then continued on Sunday as City’s Women marked our opening match of the New Year by securing a fine 2-0 win over Everton at the Joie Stadium.

Strikes from Kerolin and Vivianne Miedema maintained City’s six-point lead at the top of the Barclays Women’s Super League – and also extended our winning WSL run to a magnificent 11 games.
