The 31-year-old then turned provider and reignited his partnership with Erling Haaland that proved so efficient during the first half of the season, by squaring the ball for the Norwegian to tap home.
In what was an evenly contested second half, a backline mainly made of City youngsters held strong to maintain a clean sheet.
