Kevin De Bruyne scored a brace for the defending champions, who also had Phil Foden, Jack Grealish, Riyad Mahrez, John Stones and Nathan Ake also on target as we hit top form against Marcelo Bielsa’s side.
It was an utterly dominant display from Pep Guardiola’s side, who opened the scoring in the seventh minute when Foden volleyed in from the edge of the box to net the 500th league goal of the Catalan’s tenure.
Guardiola reached the milestone quicker than any other manager in the competition’s history and five minutes later he was celebrating the 501st goal as Grealish crashed a powerful header past Illan Meslier from a Mahrez cross.
De Bruyne’s fierce drive made it 3-0 before the break and the Algerian winger ended any hopes of a Leeds’ fightback four minutes into the second half with a low strike which deflected off Junior Firpo to wrong foot Meslier.
De Bruyne added a fifth with an unstoppable 25-yard drive and it was soon 6-0 after Stones drilled beyond the helpless Meslier from close range.
Ake capped a fine night for City when he rose highest to head home from a Foden corner.
