Goals of course are the very currency of the game – but the celebrations arguably carry just as much meaning for players and fans alike and resonate long in the memory.
So, we have compiled some of the most iconic goal celebrations of the past 30 years involving the Blues for you to enjoy.
There’s much to savour.
Starting with Georgi Kinkladze’s stunning Maine Road solo effort against Southampton in March 1996, we also take in Paul Dickov’s historic Wembley strike against Gillingham in the 1999 League Two play-off final.
Memorable goals and celebrations from Bernardo Corradi, Stephen Ireland and Emmanuel Adebayor also make the cut.
Of course, efforts against Manchester United always carry extra special significance so its only right that we relive iconic derby celebrations from Shaun Wright-Phillips, Benjani, Carlos Tevez, Yaya Toure, Edin Dzeko and, of course, Mario Balotelli.
Sergio Aguero’s 93:20 title winning moment against Queens Park Rangers in May 2012 simply had to be there too.
More latterly, the incredible period of success City have enjoyed under Pep Guardiola is also recognised.
We revisit iconic Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus goals and celebrations against Southampton from the 2017/18 Centurions campaign as well as reliving Vincent Kompany’s crucial late, late Etihad stunner against Leicester from May 2019.
No second invitation was needed to rerun Ilkay Gundogan’s dramatic 2022 title winner against Aston Villa along with Gundo’s 13 second 2023 FA Cup final stunner against United.
Of course, master marksman Erling Haaland just has to be there too along with his trademark Zen meditation celebration as is Phil Foden with his sniper pose.
And no celebration compilation would be complete without a nod back to Istanbul 2023 and Rodrigo’s epic winner which secured both Champions League and Treble glory against Internazionale.
