Pep Guardiola says City will have to be especially vigilant to deal with the threat of ‘exceptional’ Leicester striker Jamie Vardy in Saturday’s Premier League trip to the King Power Stadium.

The Foxes forward boasts a fine individual record against City and is enjoying another impressive campaign with Brendan Rodgers’ high-flying side, who currently lie in third place in the Premier League, four points behind City.

Asked at his pre-match press conference what made Vardy such a dangerous opponent, the City boss was unequivocal in his praise for the former England international, describing the 33-year-old as ‘one of the best strikers he had seen.’

“Because we play 40 metres in front and it’s perfect for him - but he (Vardy) scores against all the teams, he is exceptional,” said Guardiola.

“He’s one of the best strikers that I’ve seen, with his movement, high pressing, his finishing skills.”
