Third-place Newcastle host second-place Arsenal on Sunday, but the boss believes speculating on various scenarios is pointless at this stage.
Asked about the possibility of having a four-point gap - should City beat Leeds - ahead of Arsenal’s trip to St James’ Park on Sunday and what that might do psychologically to the Gunners, Pep said: “I don’t know because I don’t speak to Mikel or the Arsenal players.
“It will be better if we win another one, and that would be 10 games in a row if we beat Leeds and go four points clear.
“But anything can happen. Newcastle (still need points to) qualify for the Champions League mathematically.
“Nobody expected Newcastle to qualify for the Champions League this season and it’s an incredible achievement for them, we have to be honest.
“Next season they play in the Champions League.
“The performances they have done (at St James’ Park) have been good -it’s not easy to go there; we felt it at the beginning of the season, but Arsenal have weapons, strength and everything , too.
“It is better to have the destiny in our hands is the answer and to be just thinking about Leeds on Saturday.
“That is the best way.”
